Menguin Brand Identity

Menguin Brand Identity

As the creative director for this suit and tux rental startup, I created a brand identity that was bold and modern yet playful. The brand was pivotal in its successful purchase in 2017 by the founder of Men’s Wearhouse.

My Role

I led a creative team at Menguin for 2.5 years. During that time, I developed a unique brand identity for the online suit and tux rental company. The brand helped elevate perceived quality of the products and made the company stand out against outdated competitors.

Starting Out

Menguin came to me as a small startup: four guys working out of a room to be exact. They had a logo that needed changing and a site that was pieced together.

What started with a few ad designs ended up turning into an entire re-branding of the company. A full visual rebranding, web design, packaging design and several photo shoots did the trick.

Ongoing Evolution

Over the 2.5 years I was with the company, I led a small creative team of three to develop the visual language and design marketing materials to achieve growth goals. The brand had a modern, rebellious personality (we were disrupting a traditional market, afterall) so the visuals and language were chosen to reflect that.

With a successful $25m exit in 2017, Menguin was an established brand in a new market and outlasting other players with explosive growth.
